092013_238KitchenChairRDoesn’t everyone hang their clothes to dry on the back of their kitchen furniture? We ran out of rack space in the laundry room, so I improvised. But then I needed a chair to stand on to take a photo for work, so that is why is happens to be in front of the back door.

I liked the light coming through, so that’s why I shot it.

Food, food photography, Pear, Still life

091913_237PearStillLifeRWell, it’s getting to be that time of year where I don’t have a lot of time left after work to shoot anything since the days are getting shorter. So! It was a still life for today.

This is a pear from the yard of a friend of Joe’s. I like the color and texture of pears. But we’re never home, so this one may be destined to rot in the window sill if we don’t eat it soon.

Dogs, Hula Hoop, Pets, Photography, Welcome home

091813_236WelcomeHomeRThis is what I see when I come home – every time.

I was trying to get a cool shot of my pups by lifting the camera over the fence to shoot down on them, but they moved when I shot the image. Murray had to stop and scratch and itch, but then they went and got Mr. Hula Hoop to engage me in a game of tug of war. I liked both of them, so I decided to make it a diptych.

Please excuse the shape of the backyard. They know not what they do.

091713_235LastBiteRdWe at dinner at Big River again tonight with Joe’s parents. They had just gotten back in town from California, so they were tired and hungry.

We all split this chocolate dessert, but Joe and I kept pushing the last bite back and forth: “You eat it!” “No, YOU eat it.” As if one more bite was going to wreck our diets.

I guess he ended up with it, because I know it wasn’t me.

Bluff View Art District, Hunter Museum of American Art, Old clock, Photography

091613_234ThreeThirtyRThis is a corner of the Bluff View Art District. One of my favorite parts of town.

Our fire alarm at work went off today, so I picked up my purse, camera and laptop and left the building. I got in the car and drove over here in hopes of finding a photo of the day.

This corner is near the Hunter Museum of American Art.

Boat, First Aid Kit, Photography

091513_233FirstAidKitRJoe and I decided to do something nice for his parents today and clean their boat while they are out of town.

We used Simple Green and bleach on most of the boat – and it took most of the day to finish our task.

THIS is what Joe found in the hull of the boat – his father’s first aid kit.

Good thing we never needed it.

We’ll have to replace it tomorrow.

Chattanooga Zoo, Photography, Sisters Day Out

091413_232MonkeyBusinessRdMy sister and I spent the day together today, and we spent part of it at the Chattanooga Zoo. This is in part of the Spider Monkey exhibit. Apparently they like to play with the patrons.

We were told they like to blow kisses, too.

Aldo shoes, Hard to find sizes, Photography, Size 5 shoes

091313_231ShoesEverywhereRYou know what they say! Women love shoes and they can’t have enough of them.

I, on the other hand, am lucky I have any shoes at all. I can no longer find my size. Especially in heels. I suppose the buyers think most people don’t wear size 5, so why order them?

I can’t tell you how many times I’ve sulked out of a shoe store furious I was leaving empty handed – or empty footed in this case.

I was forced to order my last pair of shoes online. Fine. I don’t REALLY care, but it does take some of the shopping fun out of it.

But I actually was not shopping here. I was searching for my photo of the day before I met Joe for dinner. This happened to be the shoe store, Aldo. The shoes looked pretty cute; but like I said, I wasn’t really shopping.

091213_230MagazineRackRLook! Actual books and magazines. Who would have thought.

Of course, she’s the only one there…..

I went to Books-A-Million today to kill some time while waiting on Joe, so that’s where I found this woman.

I love going to bookstores. They are very quiet – yet full of stories.

German Shepherd, Humane Society, Husky, Photography, Rescue dogs

091113_229MurrayROne would think this dog was homeless and sad from the expression on his face.

He is quite the opposite, I can assure you. He had gotten into cobwebs and Husky fur, and was trying to get them off of his face when I grabbed the camera. (Actually, he had removed most of it by the time I got back outside. Story of my life.) His partner in crime, Lilly, is a Husky/German Shepherd mix, and her fur is everywhere. So are the cobwebs this time of year.

Anyway, this is Murray. Happy and very much a part of the family. He’s also very adept at milking a treat out of me at any given moment using this face.

I stuffed him into my car about 8 years ago after I saw him on the side of the interstate. I got Lilly at the Humane Society for him to have a friend.

No wonder I don’t have any money.
