Nikki’s, an old-fashioned hamburger joint, is a landmark in Chattanooga. It opened in the 40s and hasn’t made many changes since. (You still cannot pay for your meal with anything other than cash.) My father and I meet there frequently for lunch, and both of us always order the same thing: He gets a hamburger, and I get a toasted pimento cheese sandwich and bottled Coke. Oh, and we split an order of onion rings. They’re gooooood! It’s usually standing room only at lunch, too, so patrons know to eat fast so those waiting can get a seat as soon as possible.
