I was BUSY today at work. In fact, I’m still at work. But, I did manage to sneak out and run to the Barn again today. (Yes, I did clock out first.) I bought some more flowers for the yard which is serious need of help. But the Barn also give me a chance toContinue reading “Jars of Sunshine – Snapshot of the Day, No. 258”

Sit-in Mural – Snapshot of the Day, No. 257
Right around the corner from the newspaper is a great place to eat called, Champy’s. It is known for its great fried chicken and eclectic artwork inside and out. It also has a wonderful mural painted on the outside wall commemorating the Chattanooga sit-ins in 1960 called, “We Shall Not Be Moved.” I shot thisContinue reading “Sit-in Mural – Snapshot of the Day, No. 257”
Private Gardens and such – Snapshot of the Day, No. 256
Joe and I met at the Greenway after work today to get a walk in. This is the garden they tend to. I honestly don’t know anything about it, but I’m assuming the food harvested from it goes to charity. Today I decided to do something a little different for a change. I decided toContinue reading “Private Gardens and such – Snapshot of the Day, No. 256”
Remembering Hank – Snapshot of the Day, No. 255
This is Hank. He was a fixture at the Warner Park Zoo, now known as the Chattanooga Zoo, for most of his life. When the zoo renovated several years ago, the main gate, created by Siskin Steel and Supply Co., featured several of the animals housed there. This is Hank’s portrait. He is definitely the most famousContinue reading “Remembering Hank – Snapshot of the Day, No. 255”
Take Me Home! – Snapshot of the Day, No. 254
Ok. I totally cheated on this one. But I have a good excuse. Who can take just one photo of a bunch of puppies? Plus, they are such wiggle worms, it’s hard to catch them at the right moment with a cell camera. I had to go to PetSmart today to pick up something forContinue reading “Take Me Home! – Snapshot of the Day, No. 254”
Game Day – Snapshot of the Day, No. 253
We spent the day at Joe’s parents’ house watching SEC football all day long. (Alabama won – Roll Tide!) I stole away a moment between games and found these mushrooms down by the river. They were hidden, so I was excited when I discovered them.
Flying Stars – Snapshot of the Day, No. 252
I actually got a chance to take a lunch break at work today – which is odd being Friday – but I got to leave the building nonetheless. Being fall plantin’ time, I naturally drove to the Barn Nursery to pick up some pansies and mums for our yard. I’m not sure the technical termContinue reading “Flying Stars – Snapshot of the Day, No. 252”
CLOSED – Snapshot of the Day, No. 251
Where to begin. I’m not sure the actual name of this establishment. It’s a Bait / Barber shop. (The barber shop portion is not shown) And I don’t know if the sign means they are out of business, or just closed for the day. It did not look very friendly or inviting, so I didContinue reading “CLOSED – Snapshot of the Day, No. 251”
The Bridge – Snapshot of the Day, No. 250
I’ve been waiting for several years to capture this railroad bridge in the fog. I almost did it this morning, but I don’t think it is quite there yet. I’ll keep trying. This bridge is over the Tennessee River near the Chickamauga Dam. A TVA project back during the Depression.
EZ Pawn – Snapshot of the Day, No. 249
Inspired by yesterday’s photo, I decided to shoot something on the edgier side of town today. So when I got the chance, I drove to Rossville Boulevard to see what I could find. It’s notorious for used car lots, pawn shops and adult bookstores. I was not looking for anything that was worth a documentary.Continue reading “EZ Pawn – Snapshot of the Day, No. 249”
