The Gardener – Snapshot of the Day, No. 83

041813_83TheGardenerRdI went to the Barn Nursery on a break today and decided to bring my camera. I loved this lady searching for the right plant and/or flowers to buy. She did not look like she felt well; but, by golly, she was going to get her flowers. Good for her.

The Barn is one of my very favorite places to be. Sometimes I go there just to walk around. It is very comforting and helps me clear my head if I’m having a hectic day at work.

Alley in Rain – Snapshot of the Day, No. 82

041713_82AlleyInRainRThis is an alley between a parking garage and an older building downtown. It was dumping buckets of rain, although you cannot tell that here. This was the best I could do today – and with my cell phone no less. Time to get a new lens when my phone camera gives a sharper image.

Engel Stadium – Snapshot of the Day, No. 81

041613_81EngelStadiumRThis is the center field wall to Engel Stadium. It was once home to our local Chattanooga Lookouts – before a newer stadium was built.

It was used recently to film portions of the movie, “42.” The Jackie Robinson Story. So, apparently the stadium is now undergoing a restoration. I had to stop and shoot some of the ads being painted on the walls.

Coke, of course, is my favorite.

East 17th Street – Snapshot of the Day, No. 80

041513_80East17thStreetRI saw this mural today and decided to pull over. When I got out, I was hoping someone would come by – so I looked to my right; and by golly, here came a man walking a bicycle! Good luck for me!

This was on East 17th Street in the Southside. Right off of Main Street.

Sugar’s – Snapshot of the Day, No. 77

041213_77SugarsRI saw this girl sweeping the entrance to Sugar’s Ribs today and instantly knew she’d be my Snapshot of the Day. But I did not want her to go back inside before I got her photo, so I quickly did a meter reading for the shade and then lifted my camera and shot. I had no idea what I got. I just lucked up getting those two people reflected in the door’s window.

Sugar’s has great food. My husband and I have had several date nights there.

Morning Light – Snapshot of the Day, No. 76

041113_76MorningLightRI was out early this morning and had some time to kill before I went to work, so I went over to the Hunter Museum of American Art to see if I could find anything to shoot.

This fence has always attracted me, but the light hitting the columns on the original Hunter Museum mansion was what made me settle on this as my daily “one-shot” image.

The light and texture was just so beautiful, I HAD to take the photo.

Buehler’s Market – Snapshot of the Day, No. 75

041013_75BuehlersMarketRThis is Buehler’s Food Market on Market Street downtown. Close to Panera and Taco Mac. I LOVE going in here because it reminds me of shopping with my mother at the M&J when I was a kid. It even has that same grocery store smell you just don’t get with modern stores today.

It has a real friendly feel to it, too. Everyone seems to know each other – there was a lot of laughter coming from the different isles.

I loved this corner of the store. I stole a photo when I THOUGHT no one was watching. It looks like I got busted by the man on the right. At least he has a smile on his face.

National Anthem – Snapshot of the Day, No. 74

040913_74NationalAnthemROur national anthem makes me cry – every time I hear it. Without fail. Tv, computer or in person. It does not matter. It’s a great, moving song.

I am very patriotic, and I love my country – failures and all. I have been to a few other countries, and they were all very nice and wonderful. But there is no place like home – really.

This is what I saw when I opened our front door this morning. The light was shining through the flag. It looked so pretty.
