Chattanooga, Graffiti, One Way, Patten Parkway, Photography, The Honest Pint

010914_350ToTheLeftRThere’s not much of a story associated with this image. I just stopped because I liked the graffiti on the wall.

I might not like it if I actually knew what it said, however.

This is the outside wall of the Honest Pint pub downtown at Patten Parkway.

French Quarter, New Orleans, Photography

010114_342FrenchQuarterRI love New Orleans.

This restaurant is in the French Quarter, but I can’t quite make out the name. Sorry.

We stay away from Bourbon Street and preferring the quieter areas.

It rained most of our time there, but that just made things more cosy.

New Orleans, New Year's eve, Photography

123113_341NewYearinNORSince Alabama was in the Sugar Bowl this year (football to those who don’t follow college sports) Joe and I went to New Orleans to watch the game. It just happened to coincide with New Year’s Eve in the French Quarter.

One of the best New Year’s Eve’s I’ve ever experienced. We just happened to be under the Fleur de lis at the countdown – followed by a huge fireworks display over the river.

These were a couple of partiers we passed as we made our way back to our car.

A side note: We sat in the parking lot for and hour and a half before we could get moving. Gridlock! After traveling all day to New Orleans, we got to our hotel and in bed at 4:00 a.m.

Yes! It was a good year.

Chattanooga Christmas Parade, Humane Society, Pets, Photography

121513_324ChristmasParadeRWe went to the Christmas parade downtown tonight. The Humane Society was there with a bunch of pups.

This guy was a little shy before the event actually started.

Perhaps he was less than thrilled with his costume.

Chattanooga, Photography, River Street Deli

121413_323SandwichNaziRJoe and I went Christmas shopping downtown today and stopped in the River Street Deli for lunch. It’s truly one of the best delis in town – plus we had a buy one, get one free coupon.

The only problem with the deli is, the owner – not from the South – is a little like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld. No, that’s not true. He is almost exactly like the Soup Nazi from Seinfeld.

If you try to alter the sandwich you’re ordering in any way, he starts arguing with you and will proceed to give you a sermon on how the integrity of the sandwich will be ruined if you change it…….but he’ll make it the way you want it – “if that’s what you really want to do.”

Joe decided to compromise with the guy and only added a small amount of mayo to his roast beef sandwich, and did without the requested lettuce and tomato.

Nothing ruins a roast beef sandwich like lettuce and tomato.

But Joe had to admit to the owner it was truly one of the best sandwiches he’d ever eaten.

My integrity-intact turkey sandwich was very delicious, as well.

Meanwhile, these two men caught my eye. They looked like really good friends whom were having a good conversation. Turns out, the man on the right is a priest.

I wonder if he got the sandwich sermon, too?

Chattanooga, Editorial, Employment, Graffiti, Photography

112713_306ItGetsWorseRI’m not sure, but since this was spray-painted on the side of one of our buildings, chances are it was left there by one of our employees.

Hmmm.

Buying groceries, Chattanooga, Mother and daughter, P&P Produce, Photography

080513_192BuyingGroceriesRI was buying some corn at P&P Produce today when I saw this mother and daughter (I’m assuming) at the other register. The little girl was so beautiful, I just couldn’t resist taking her photo.

I’ve uploaded a couple of other images in this project of P&P, but it’s right down the street from work and has so many potential photos hanging around.

Chattanooga Street Food Project, Food venders, Locally grown, Photography

072613_182TatersR

I stumbled across this area of food venders today in downtown Chattanooga. They call themselves, Chattanooga Street Food Project, and it seemed pretty cool. Here is a story about it if you’re interested.

Since I usually bring my lunch, I did not get a chance to try out the food; but that’s an idea for next week.

This vender’s name is actually Naters, but I couldn’t see the sign. I decided to leave it due to the box of what looks like drawn potatoes. Perhaps they are not. At any rate,  Taters is a funny name. I’m leaving it.

Chattanooga, Gas station, Painted eyes, Photography, Universal Joint

072513_181IllBeWatchingYouRFor as long as I can remember, this building – a former gas station – has been vacant. But now it is about to reopen as a restaurant: “Universal Joint.”

As for the eyes painted on the building behind it – that was just luck for me. I have no idea why they are there or what they mean. But they are a little unnerving.

Chattanooga Billiard's Club, Cherry Street, Downtown Chattanooga, Lensbaby, Photography

071613_172CigarsGiftsAccessoriesRI’ve always liked this street – Cherry Street. It’s got an old-world charm to it.

I had a few extra minutes today at work, so I slipped out in search of a good photo. Nothing was really presenting itself to me, so I put the ole’ Lensbaby on the camera and made the scene a little bit spooky.

A man on a cell phone walked down the sidewalk, smiled and said, “Be sure to take a good photo!”

I said, “I’m trying!”

Sometimes it’s easy and other times it’s not.
