I have a Cherry Tree in the front yard of my old house, and I picked all of these up off of the ground there yesterday. ( I still own the house, so I was not stealing) I brought these outside right after a thunderstorm today, and the bowl instantly fogged up due to theContinue reading “Cherry Pickin’ – Snapshot of the Day, No. 197”

Volunteer Building – Snapshot of the Day, No. 195
This is a portion of the Volunteer Building downtown. My father used to work here for Volunteer State Life Insurance before they got bought out by Chubb Life. It’s one of those really cool, old buildings that oozes history.
Old Stomping Ground – Snapshot of the Day, No. 194
When we were kids and visited our grandmother’s house in Brainerd, our father would take us on walks through the neighborhood. We always had a ton of fun. Sometimes we would walk to the Clarence T. Jones Observatory. A bit overgrown now, these are the steps that lead to the observatory. I ventured up mostContinue reading “Old Stomping Ground – Snapshot of the Day, No. 194”
Highway 72 – Snapshot of the Day, No. 193
I was really busy today before, during and after work; so this was my only opportunity to get my shot of the day – a scene of the back of a log truck on Highway 72 in metropolitan Scottsboro. Good times.
Buying Groceries – Snapshot of the Day, No. 192
I was buying some corn at P&P Produce today when I saw this mother and daughter (I’m assuming) at the other register. The little girl was so beautiful, I just couldn’t resist taking her photo. I’ve uploaded a couple of other images in this project of P&P, but it’s right down the street from workContinue reading “Buying Groceries – Snapshot of the Day, No. 192”
The Shell Game – Snapshot of the Day, No. 190
When we were kids, we used to marvel at these little shells of what we were told were June bugs. However, I recently found out they are actually the skeletons of cicadas. Joe found three of them together today, so we had a little fun.
Saint Paul’s – Snapshot of the Day, No. 189
Although I am not a member of this church – Saint Paul’s Episcopal – I’ve been inside often. For weddings, as well as funerals, I’m afraid. But it is on the National Register of Historic Places. It was even used as a hospital during the Civil War. This photo is sort of a tribute toContinue reading “Saint Paul’s – Snapshot of the Day, No. 189”
My People! – Snapshot of the Day, No. 187
I made a U-turn today with the intention of returning to a spot that I thought would make a good photo of the day. Fortunately for me, I turned down this road and discovered this painting in the window of this building. I do not know the name of the building. I may add itContinue reading “My People! – Snapshot of the Day, No. 187”
Anjellicle CAT – Snapshot of the Day, No. 186
This is River. Our “Jellicle cat” of sorts. He was not having a great morning, but he doesn’t complain – much.
Amazon Dreams – Snapshot of the Day, No. 185
I had some extra time today, so I went to the River Gallery Sculpture Garden and found this lovely sculpture – “Amazon with Sacred Geometry,” Steel, $28,00 – by Russell Whiting. She seemed to want to go inside this house, so that’s how I shot her. It was hot, after all.
