I drive past this building at lest twice a day during the week. I am fascinated by the doors that lead to a long-since-gone balcony. I try to imagine who used to live in these rooms and what sort of lives they lived.
The building fronts M.L. King Boulevard – which back in the day was called 9th Street. Bessie Smith used to hang out in this area; so I’m willing to bet it has not changed much since then.
I decided the photo needed to be Black and White. I think it makes the image a little quieter somehow.
