Four Words – Snapshot of the Day, No. 354

011314_354FourWordsRFive years ago today, I heard four words I never thought I’d ever hear:

Will you marry me?

I had waited 46 years to hear them, so of course I said, “Yes!” And I have been deliriously happy ever since – most of the time.

Because I never got a chance to shoot anything else today, I thought I’d honor the day with a photography of my one-year anniversary gift to Joe. I took photos of us from our first year together and made a little book out of them. The first year being “cotton,” I thought it would be appropriate.

Walk in the Park – Snapshot of the Day, No. 352

011114_352WalkInTheParkRAfter dealing with the “arctic vortex” earlier this week, it was nice to get out in the 60 degree weather today and take the dogs for a walk. (The low earlier this week was 5 degrees).

We went to the Greenway Farm again. I’m not sure how long we walked, but we’re all tired.

The dogs are actually in this photo; you just can’t see them due to the shadows.

Meet the Roommates – Snapshot of the Day, No. 351

011014_351MeetTheRoomatesROur niece was in a play tonight called, “Meet the Roommates.”

Actually there were three different one-act plays. And of course Michelle was the very best one.

The plays were pretty good. But I did notice one thing: the two times the girls had opportunities to slap the guys in the face, they did so with a little too much gusto. I mean, they slapped the crap out of the guys.

Too many nerves or pent-up anger? Hmmm.

Pent-up anger. Definitely.

To the Left – Snapshot of the Day, No. 350

010914_350ToTheLeftRThere’s not much of a story associated with this image. I just stopped because I liked the graffiti on the wall.

I might not like it if I actually knew what it said, however.

This is the outside wall of the Honest Pint pub downtown at Patten Parkway.

Chicken Salad – Snapshot of the Day, No. 349

010814_349ChickenSaladRChicken salad. I haven’t made that in years!

This morning I made it with the rotisserie chicken I made a few nights ago. I added apples, grapes, toasted walnuts, salt and pepper, and red chili flakes to offset the sweet fruit. Oh, and mayonnaise, of course.

It turned out to be really good! I was so excited. My goal this year is to try a new recipe once a week.

We’ll see if I succeed. I’ll do my best, but it won’t kill me if I miss a week here and there.

End of the Day, Snapshot of the Day, No. 348

010714_348EndOfTheDayRBaby, it’s cold outside!

This scene on my way home seemed to convey the arctic temperature we’ve been experiencing lately.

It got down to 5 degrees last night here. That’s pretty cold for the South.

For the Record – Snapshot of the Day, No. 347

010614_347ForTheRecordRThere is a certain fascination with me to enter a bathroom for the first time – especially if it is in an establishment that is unique or artistic. I just never know what kind of inspiration I’m going to find.

Case in point at lunch today. Several of my co-workers and I met at Champy’s for a Southern-fried-chicken-kind of meal. It’s pretty good food, but I had never had the opportunity to go into their bathroom before today.

Look what I found! Records! Cool! Several of which I had owned at one time.

It reminded me of the time when I first saw some of the toys I used to have as a kid labeled “Antiques” at local antique malls. That was pretty eye-opening.

It was almost as bad as the time I was talking about the Mamas & Papas with a younger co-worker.

Her response, “Who?”

Sigh.

Turkey Club – Snapshot of the Day, No. 345

010414_345TurkeyClubRThank Heavens we decided to split the sandwich. I couldn’t even get my mouth around this thing. This is the half we did not eat.

We ordered it while in The Soda Shop if you’re interested.
