Raising the Roof – Snapshot of the Day, No. 313

120413_313RaisingTheRoofRWe have a new roof – after several years of needing one.

This is a view of our deck during the second day of the job. (it’s been raining, so it took a little longer than usual)

The fruit stays in the window sill since Joe usurped the fruit basket for his bills.

Old School – Snapshot of the Day, No. 312

120313_312OldSchoolRWe were all given hams for Christmas today at work.

And even though I don’t eat ham, I went and got mine anyway. I’ll give it to my or Joe’s family for our Christmas dinner.

But anyway the hams were being given out in the garage. This is one of the rooms we had to go through to get there. It was cool to see these old file cabinets.

Pre-computer days.

Back Door Papers – Snapshot of the Day, No. 308

112913_308BackDoorPapersRThis is the door I come in through at work.

Why there were so many newspapers stacked in the stairwell is beyond me. I stopped asking questions long ago – out loud at least.

Did we get more orders than usual – OR did we lose some?

It’s probably some other good reason, right?

Thanksgiving Hors d’oeuvres – Snapshot of the Day, No. 307

112813_307ThanksHors d'oeuvresRToday was Thanksgiving.

We went to my sister-in-law’s house for lunch. (We went to my father’s for dinner later on – so we had to pace ourselves with the food.)

Anyway, she always puts out a lot of snacks before the meal, and this table is generally where everyone congregates most of the time.

I liked the feel of the light and the empty plates. The aftermath of the pre-meal.

I’ve had breakfast; a Thanksgiving lunch, and a Thanksgiving dinner. HOW can I possibly be hungry right now?

Plumbing Differences – Snapshot of the Day, No. 305

112613_305PlumbingDifferencesRWaterway Plumbing Supply, Inc.

That’s what the name is on the pack of matches I found recently. They are actually still in business in Pittsburgh, Pa.

I think I will have to send them this photo of their matches. Surely they don’t print this image any longer!

I found this package of matches several months ago; and for the life of me, I cannot remember where I found them. Hmmm. Somewhere in our house – inside a box or something. But anyway, I never opened them until a couple of days ago.

Imagine my surprise – and laughter!

Someone must have thought it was a good idea at the time.

Seeing the Light – Snapshot of the Day, No. 304

112513_304SeeingTheLightRI found this at work – in my office, of all places. I have no idea where it came from, but it’s pretty cool.

It reminds me of Dr. Frankenstein’s lab; but it’s actually the inside of a very old lightbulb.

Very old. And broken, I might add. It has long since worked, but is has held onto its charm.

Gee. I hope they can say that about me when I get old.
