Chattanooga Choo Choo, Comet Goldfish, Frogs, Photography, Pond

090313_221ChooChooFishRI drove the block or two from work today over to the Chattanooga Choo-Choo to buy a souvenir, of all things, for my cousin in New York. I actually did find something not too touristy, yet Southern at the same time.

I meant to ship her some locally-made MoonPies, I just never got around to actually doing that. So she’ll have to settle for a few other items from here. Little Debbie Snack Cakes are made here, as well, and very delicious, too! (my sister works there, so I had to include them)

Anyway, I digress. I was at the Choo-Choo and could not pass up a trip to the pond that holds all of the goldfish. We have comet goldfish in our modest pond at home; but there are only three of them. Plus a frog. It’s quite small. But this thing is massive. It is in the middle of the rose garden on the grounds of the Choo-Choo. It’s quite the eco-system going. Lots of plants, birds and butterflies. . . and tourists.

Comet Goldfish, Green Frog, Pond

060713_133SelfPortraitWithPondRWe have three comet goldfish and a frog living in this pond right outside the front door, so we get to see them all of the time. They make me smile.

But anyway, that is where I took this photo this morning.

Ok. It’s midnight and we just got home – again. I’m too tired to think.

More tomorrow.

Beverly Hillbillies, Bull frog, Comet Goldfish, Jethro, Pond

040613_71JethroRWe have a small pond in our front yard with three comet goldfish. Well, a frog moved in last summer. Joe named him/her Jethro after the character in “The Beverly Hillbillies.” Jethro wanted to be a frog man and practiced in the cement pond. He also calls him Jethro Toad.

He was small when he moved in. Not anymore.

I had to clean out the pond today because it was pretty gunky. This is a photo of Jethro looking not so happy with me. I had bailed out most of the water and he had nowhere to go. I scooped him out and placed him under the bush. He hung out with me for a while. My guess is he’s back at the bottom of the pond by now.
