Self-portrait with Pond – Snapshot of the Day, No. 133

060713_133SelfPortraitWithPondRWe have three comet goldfish and a frog living in this pond right outside the front door, so we get to see them all of the time. They make me smile.

But anyway, that is where I took this photo this morning.

Ok. It’s midnight and we just got home – again. I’m too tired to think.

More tomorrow.

Blueberry Hill – Snapshot of the Day, No. 132

060613_132BlueberryHillRToday was a day that would not end.

Work was beyond words. We sold a car. A tree fell on our fence. We just got home and it’s almost midnight.

My snapshot of the day was not meant to be my snapshot of the day. Nothing struck me in the few moments I did have time – or maybe I’m just getting too picky about my subject matter. I guess that’s good. I don’t want to just be shooting for shooting’s sake.

At any rate, I shot three photos of one of our blueberry plants this morning with some raindrops on them. I liked this one the best. So it’s not exactly following my self-imposed rules – but who cares at 11:49 p.m. after one of the longest days of my life.

Eating in the Garden – Snapshot of the Day, No. 131

060513_131EatingInTheGardenRI had a hard time coming up with an interesting snapshot of the day today due to being busy at work – plus it rained like heck all day.

Joe and I ate dinner at Olive Garden, so I shot this from our table. Not so hot, so I ran home and shot my new favorite vase (that I got at the Barn Nursery) with a few flowers in it to improve my mood.

The low light made it look pretty cool. The shutter speed was a 20th of a second. I had to hold my breath as I hit the shutter.

Reflect Here – Snapshot of the Day, No. 130

060413_ReflectHereRI walked through the Stone Cup coffee shop today to get from Coolidge Park to Frazier Avenue when I saw this guy’s reflection and couldn’t resist taking his photo.

I was actually looking for inspiration for a logo I have to design for work, but kept getting distracted by some cool stuff. So I thought I’d include a couple of them for the heck of it.

060413_LineUpHereRLINE UP HERE: This is Clumpies Ice Cream shop. Great ice cream.

060413_PayHereRPAY Here: And this is just a cool reflection of a lady placing money in a parking meter.

I never did find any relevant logo inspiration; but I did get some air and a few good shots.

Number 5 – Snapshot of the Day, No. 129

060313_129No5RWe have a lot of great neighbors, but this little guy and his brother come over frequently to “help” us with our renovation.

Today they were coming back from a baseball game. We never could get out of him whether they won or lost. But he was being called home at this point – which explains why there is so much motion in the image.

He’s a boy on the go! And a real hoot! We aways laugh at the things he and his brother say.

No Autographs! – Snapshot of the Day, No. 128

060213_128NoAutographsRJoe and I got separated today at Wal-Mart, so I pressed on without him for a while. When I was in the bread aisle, I noticed an older man shopping with his son. It was a sweet scene because the dad seemed to be having trouble.

I can always tell when an older man is shopping alone for the first time – or at least it’s new to him. I picture him having to deal with the loss of his wife of decades. The men always look so lost; I usually get teary.

But anyway, that is what I was picturing while these two (at the top right of the image) were dealing with when Joe walked up behind me and tried to scare me. I missed the shot, so I raised up my camera to shoot a photo of Joe. I caught him right as his hand went up.

So this is what he gets. He’s now the photo of the day because he was goofing around. But quite frankly, I had no other time to shoot anything today, so here you go.

As Time Goes By – Snapshot of the Day, No. 127

060113_127AsTimeGoesByROnce a year, we drive up to Sevierville to the Tennessee Museum of Aviation for their annual warbird air show. One of our friends, Bill, (the one seen here in the ball cap) was a P47 pilot during WWII. He was shot down over Belgium during one of his missions. He goes with us every year to see, (and to hear), the museum’s two P47s start up and do fly-overs.

Other pilots come in with their warbird planes, too. There are P51s, a Skyraider, a Beechcraft, and lots of others I don’t remember the names of.

The cool thing about this show is veterans from WWII used to come to reminisce. We would all gather around to listen to the impromptu stories about dog fights and battles fought during the war.

Today, however, Bill was the only WWII veteran attending. Sadly, we’re losing our WWII veterans daily.

There was a veteran pilot from the Vietnam War speaking today who had everyone’s attention and respect. He is a volunteer at the museum.

Anyway, it is one of the highlights of our year. We always have a wonderful time.

Rhinoceros Shopping – Snapshot of the Day, No. 126

053113_126RhinocerosShoppingRI walked to Warehouse Row again today to get a little air and decided to shoot this as my snapshot of the day: Rhinoceros Boutique.

It’s a very nice shop. A little too expensive for my salary, however.

I love the photos used on Warehouse Row’s site. They are by Atlanta photographer, Sarah Dorio. I would love to do what she does. She is very good.

Going to Market – Snapshot of the Day, No. 125

053013_125GoingToMarketROne of my favorite places to be – period – is The Fresh Market. It’s the atmosphere and presentation that does it for me. They make me feel like I have more money than I actually do. At least it seems that way.

Low lighting, beautiful presentations – and that classical music! Ah! My mood is instantly improved whenever I walk in.

I was waiting for Joe to come back into town tonight, so I had to go SOMEWHERE for my daily image.
