I can’t seem to not photograph these hydrangea blooms. They fascinate me because they are constantly changing colors. . . even after being cut and stuck in a vase.
Mykonos Greek Grill – Snapshot No. 42
Ok. I must admit my first attempt at my Snapshot of the Day was ill-advised. I decided to abandon it as my One Image of the Day because it was taken in haste and really, REALLY bad. I’m trying to capture moments on the street like Vivian Maier did. I can honestly say I FAILED at that today. So if that is cheating, then so be it. You all deserve at least a half-way decent image to look at. So here it is. A shadow of a sign of a business no longer in existence in our town. Too bad, too. I heard it was really good Greek food. In fact, we had a lot of really good restaurants bite the dust this past year. Who knows why. Most likely the economy and bad locations were the culprits.
Anyway, I loved the old tile and ghosts of former customers when I looked in. I couldn’t not take a photo.
Raspberry Friands Mishap – Snapshot No. 41
My favorite blog, What Katie Ate, has great recipes! Plus a great new cookbook that I look at constantly for photo inspiration. This is one of the recipes I tried recently, Raspberry Friands. After looking all over town and the internet for almond meal, I’m not sure I did it correctly. They taste funny to me. But they sure look good. I am sure it is operator error because this is one of her more popular recipes. Oh well. I have a lot of almond meal left. I may try again.

Home Security – Photo No. 38
Not having much time left on my stroll through the Fort Wood neighborhood, I settled on shooting this tricycle. I was annoyed by the sign in the yard being too close to the trike – until I actually read what it said. Then I laughed. I’m sure intruders are not too intimidated by the warning.
Rotten Tomato – Snapshot No. 37
Scooter Games – Snapshot No. 36
My out-of-town friend and I spent the day together again today and found ourselves in this great toy store. This little girl was switching from a pogo stick and this scooter. She bounced and flew through the store for quite a while.
Coming to Work – Snapshot No. 35
As usual, I only had a few minutes today to find my one “snapshot of the day.” And because my rule is I only get one shot at whatever I decide to take a photo of, it makes my few minutes seem even shorter. However, the goal of this project is to make me less complacent about what I am taking photos of, as well as to make me a better shooter. And although I’ve only been at it for 35 days, I can already see improvement in both areas – even though it may not always show here. I cringe at some photos I have to post, but they just make me more determined to do a better job the next day.
I shot over 100 photos yesterday on my day off. I was really excited about a lot of them and feel I am starting to get back into the photography groove again. After not shooting consistently for several years, one tends to get rusty.
Anyway, as I was saying – I only had a few minutes to find something today. It was too cold to walk around outside, so the solution was this stairwell at our back door. I did have to wait a few minutes for someone to open the door to make it more interesting. If ONLY someone had been coming down the stairs at the same time! Now that would have been a great shot. Too bad for me.
Thanks for looking!
Girls Day Out – Snapshot no. 34
A childhood friend of mine came into town this week, so I decided to take the day off from work and hang out with her today. Fortunately for us she had her niece with her. The three of us went to several galleries and shops. This is a photo of them inside of the Hart Gallery on Main Street. It is a gallery for homeless and other non-traditional artist to sell their art. We really had a great time together.
